The Goddess Maida

From the Background Story of One of Our Players

The goddess Maida has a kind and generous heart, shown especially to those who have dealt with the unkind and unjust in the world outside of the Elven realm.

For centuries, the Elven people of the northern shores have lived in strife with the domineering and power hungry man. The human fear of the Elven peoples’ mystery and magic has driven them deeper and deeper into the mountains as they have searched for a hidden and protective world they would call home.

But the nature of the elves is that of survival and perseverance. Their struggles were not to be overlooked by the one who could offer assistance. Maida laid a vessel onto the mossy grounds. The Water of Life poured freely from this “spring”, nurturing everything it touched. The mists grew, creating a protective veil in the glens and remote valleys, concealing their newfound home. Only one with Elven heritage could enter into the mist shrouded land.

Almost by osmosis these elves and all that lived within the mists were nurtured and cared for. These elves were able to concentrate their energy on their magic and arts without worry of toil or war. They constructed modest temples and houses that looked as old as the surrounding ancient trees. They embellished their structures with ornate symbols telling of the elvish lore and history of their people. They all but vanished from the eye of man until she wandered into their world...
